Lines from Roethke's poem The Waking

On 1st August 1963, that is 50 years ago tomorrow, the Michigan poet Theodore Roethke died of a heart attack whilst swimming. The former poet-in-residence at the University of Washington in Seattle was 55 years of age.

The following lines commence The Waking.-

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?

A Wonderful Windsor from Wales

Prince George Alexander Louis, the grandson of Prince Charles of Wales, was born on 22nd July 2013 and weighed 8lb 6oz

The heir
To the throne
Now lately born
With no hair
On his crown,
There may be some down
From what we can see
Of the top
Of his head,
Will now be called George;
He will grow to love
Dragons
And play rugby
For Wales.
