A very big hole - ONKALO

In Finland
They are digging
A very big hole
The hole has a name

O

N

K

A

L

O

And when they are finished
In a hundred years time
They will place
In the bottom
Their nuclear waste
And then they'll back fill
And seal up the hole.
That's part ONE of the plan. Then
When the hole has been sealed
Some signs may be placed
saying DO NOT DISTURB
THIS DANGEROUS PLACE
Or maybe they won't.
And what form they could take
Is beyond anyone's guess.
No sign of an answer
To the whole unclear mess.

I read an article about that. It said the waste would not be safe for at least 100,000 years. I mean, that's just a silly number considering how long Man has been around. All I can say is that I'm glad I'll be dead and gone long before then and I pity what future generations will have to do to cope with our legacy.

Thank you Jim, and I've now edited the end to take account of what you say.

Of course, this a riddle without an answer.

The pyramids have only been here for 5,000 years - and their secrets are a mystery. Cave paintings are maybe from 25,000 years ago.

We cannot imagine what creatures will be here in 100,000 years let alone what they will have for languages and symbols.

It's the big thing about nuclear that over-rides the scientific arguments for me: the hubris of it all. Knowledge and technology can be lost as well as discovered.

Dominic, you might want to view a new news item - 'Nuclear Collapse Looms' on the scroll-down bar via my RT Link. An expert from Hiroshima gives an alarming situation report. You won't see this on UK mainstream.
