Adolf Frohner

Adolf Frohner (1934 - 2007)

"Art must not be pretty. But it must be necessary."

Warrior

The Adolf Frohner exhibition opened a few days ago at the Essl Museum in Klosterneuburg near Vienna.

Marionette

Crucifixion

Man with Wounds

The Essl Museum, as I have said before, is always worth a visit. I go there often. The current Frohner exhibition is spread over 7 rooms on the ground floor. The museum's rooftop cafe' with it's open air terrace and fine views is an added bonus. The free bus to the Essl Museum departs at 2-hourly intervals commencing at 10am from outside The Albertina in the centre of Vienna. There is a regular and frequent train service from Vienna to Klosterneuburg. The exhibition runs until 6th April 2015.

  1. Love the warrior and am interested in the comment - it needs thinking about. I am often quite unable to get on to your comments page Gwil, but I do always read you. Often I just get a blank page.

  2. Can't think why you get a blank page, but I had to put some controls on due to the increasing level of spam.

  5. Very De Kooning and even a bit of Egon Shiel. Very interesting, I wish I could see the exhibition. Maybe I will get there before April 2015.

    1. Egon Schiele I know but I don't know De Kooning, so thanks for that. Can Wales do it tonight against Andorra that is the question? Another question is what will Great Britain be called if Scotland leave? Smaller Britain?

    2. Whatever happens the pitch will be blamed. And no Craig Bellamy. Bale has a lot to do.

You just must look at De Kooning.

    3. I see De Kooning in Man with Wounds mostly but you must tell me what you think.

  6. I'm looking at De Kooning. But I don't know what Wales are looking at- They are losing 1-0 after 13 mins. My grandma used to swear in Welsh. Fortunately I've forgotten how to spell it!

    1. Your background is variable. It is brighter now than it was earlier. I am not looking at Wales at the moment but maybe I can take a look during the adverts, just like you had to the other night.

    2. A beautifully taken free kick from Bale leaves Wales in control for the last 10 minutes.

    3. Finished 1-2. They will be singing in the valleys. Other teams will find it difficult here on the bobbly pitch says the man who bailed out Wales.
