Sakurajima Volcano - A Work in Progress
Mysterious control!
They have restarted
A nuclear plant
The first
Online
since the Fuku/disaster.
There is a volcano
By name
Cherry Island
(no longer an island! such is its power)
Lying 30 miles distant
Today or tonight
Or maybe
tomorrow
when the magma flows
And the cherry trees glow
Certain eyebrows will rise
in feigned surprise
local people were told
To be bold
no chance of Sakurajima eruption
heed as we say
the current alerts
The sequence of warnings
Not the unsettling
look
of the neighbour
Cherry tree tremolos
and
Expanding magma
What power
controls
and Commands?
Note: Mount Sakurajima is only 50 kms from the just-restarted Sendai nuclear plant (Japan Times)
Update of Evacuation alert lifted 2 days ago.

Really interesting piece. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteI apologise for it being a work in progress . . . It will change as I leave it to bubble and smoke overnight.
DeleteMagma refuses to obey governmental directives.
ReplyDelete__Free thought Gwil W, nature obeys only itself. Nifty_!
I'm going down that path. I was a bit rushed yesterday. I am tidying up and building it as time permits.
DeleteIt is all too terrifying for me Gwil as in all things nuclear (and volcanic) one feels so helpless.
ReplyDeleteNature will always have the last word.
DeleteYour poems are very hard for me to absorb in one easy go, and to comment would be useless.
ReplyDeleteIt's Pompeii on steroids waiting to happen. Hopefully it won't.
DeleteJapan Times has 3 new updates on this volcano in last 2 days, last 7 hours ago, (on google).
