The Silence Echoes

trees

grown bare
now
silence reigns

yet,
something
drips
yet
something
drips
with silent
echo,

silence
echoes
these misty
woods

    1. Thanks Rachel, I created the image by standing in front of a projector and photographing my shadow on the screen in front of me. It was in a church of all places, so maybe that is meaningful. Who knows?

  3. I liked the picture too (now you changed it).
In your poem it is only seemingly an ooxymoron when you speak of the "silent echo" - in absolute stillness even a faraway drop falling from a twig will sound clearly. A tiny drop mentioned shows the enormousness of the forest, and of the silence.

  5. PS: And of course I noticed the change from "with silent echo" to active (verb) "with silence echoes the misty woods". Great!

    1. Thanks Brigitta. The silence contains the echo. The drip drips but the echo, we can say is not the drip drip drip but the silence between the drips. When the echo is in the silence we have insight.

    2. perhaps insight is the wrong word, but we have a kind of contact with some force beyond
