That Fruit May Grow Upon Your Trees (a prayer for peace)

I

Blessings
on the orange sun.

II

As we rise
to greet the  morn

you touch the flowers

and the leaves

that fruit

may grow

upon

your trees

your trees

that grow

the perfumed air
adorn themselves

with blossom

fair

for the insect

and the dreamer's eye.

III

One tree
grows fruit

grows love

grows air

protects

with shade

a place

of peace

one tree
grows here

for all

to see.

IV

Blessings

on your orange trees.

  1. Lovely! And a tree that gives with generous hands: juicy sweet fruits, at the same time blossoms with a scent that make you swoon, and those dark green hard leaves are beautiful too.

    1. Thanks, and I agree with your every word. Perhaps peoples with differences living in countries on or near the Mediterranean should organize themselves so that they are able live together or at least alongside each other armed with the blessings endowed by nature and not with explosives and suicidal fanaticism. But it is not so. And I wonder if it ever will be. Today in Istanbul another mass murder, to give it its right name.

    1. We are living in the most interesting of times. I wouldn't swap it for the world. A woman is telling a million muslim men what to do.

I hope I live long enough to see how it all pans out. Are we heading up Orwell Road? Tonight's new crescent sharp as a sickle hangs above my back.

There's a Rubicks cube somewhere, with all sides the same colour which is red. That's what's going on here. Everybody has the same chance of shoving the puzzle regardless of ability, qualifications, integrity and so on.
