  1. But in radical Muslims Americans don’t.

I have neve had anything to do with a gun but this fellow could have used a bomb or poisonous gas as well.

Would love to see guns disappear in American if you could find some way to remove them from the folks in the inner city who use them almost every night.

In my city I would say we average more than a shooting every night. And it’s not the hunters. And I don’t hunt.

    1. They are saying now that so called IS links are dubious. I am of the opinion that this was a classic lone gunman until some solid evidence comes up to prove otherwise. Naturally the gunverment would like to tick the IS box as they could tighten security to a draconian level. A million Americans have died from guns since John Lennon. How many from so called terrorists. If there was justice in the Middle East we wouldn't be having what we are experiencing. Every citizen in every country being treated like a potential mass murderer. It's almost beyond Orwellian. "If you are not with us you are for the terrorists" GWB.

    2. Gwil,

In St. Louis, Missouri, African-Americans are shooting other African-Americans on average of at least one a night with guns likely stolen rather than purchased, stolen in robberies of homes.

Fear of ISIS invading us is not the problem. What we don't know is how many of the Muslims in already in St. Louis and the rest of America agree with ISIS at least to the degree that infidels must be eliminated. Don't kid yourself. They are in St. Louis and throughout America. They are in the minority but it only takes one as Orlando points out. Only in the last two shootings in California and Orlando have "good" Muslims begun to speak out. But I have no idea how they might govern their own.

Gun control is a wonderful fantasy in America. Take guns away from people who like to hunt animals and let those who like to shoot people keep the guns they already have.

I am probably in the minority among middle-class Americans in that I have never held a gun and wouldn't. But as if I owned one and some fellow came through my window at midnight I would shoot and turn on the lights later.

You have to live here to appreciate what is going on.

Obama means well but if his administration understandably cannot identify that radical Muslims already here, how can we trust his people to sort the wacko refugees--albeit a minority--from the normal people who will be coming here.

The Koran says what it says about infidels: Kill them if they won't convert or tax them at a higher rate.

And people still yelp about the Crusades.

Maybe things are better in the U.K. I hope so.

    3. We can start by banning assault rifle, the weapon of choice in mass shootings such as Sandy Hook and Orlando.

    4. This episode serves as a political Rorschach test. Everyone's interpretation of it depends on their views of what's really wrong with American society: homophobia, Islamophobia, ISIS, the NRA. Take you pick. I choose guns in the hands of people who hate.

    5. People in the UK are happier people DM and I believe that people in the US are given a raw deal in employmemt, health, living conditions, and well-being and they feel it. Shootings and massacres are just one result of this.

    6. Donal, the only suggestion I can make is that they try some meaningful gun control in one or two of your many united states and see how it goes. Perhaps constitutionally gun control is a nonstarter. I think everybody is allowed to carry one. There will now be another surge in gun sales. These incidents are unfortunately real money spinners.

    7. Shawn, my take is guns and psychopaths are two words like sandbags and nuclear - they should never be in the same sentence.

  2. Nobody can get it through to folk over there that the gun laws need changing - Obama tried but failed. On a holiday once we stopped at a gun shop for one of the men in our party to have a look round. He said there were literally thousands of guns and anybody could buy them. Horrendous.

    1. Weaver, your reply reminds of a documentary I saw where people were going in these places and coming out with enough weaponry to start a war. And the salesmen were always insisting they bought extra ammo because you never know.

  3. __As one of the uneducated, inhumane US savages that I might well be termed, I cannot respond; whichever view I brought to the fore, it would severely be condemned by any (or every) of those humanly correct and benevolent worldwide societies. Their pathways, they pompously promote, are the only lines to follow.
__Cowardly, I withdraw to my cave. _m

    1. Well said, Magyar. The King of Spain who was president of WWF to which I donated was in Africa on an elephant shoot when I cancelled my WWF regular monthly payments. Some people are completely beyond the pale. And there's a perfect example. A role model of hypocrisy. As you say a pompous one too.

    2. Another one today. Woman shoots her two daughters and is gunned down by police. Some kind of protest about gun law debate. Not really worth mentioning it. Just that the 3 deceased all looked so happy in their photos. And pretty and intelligent too. What a tragedy.
