250th birthday haiku for Robert Burns

A Poet-in-Residence haiku to mark the 250th birthday of the world famous poet and songwriter Robert Burns, born in Alloway in the County of Ayrshire, Scotland, on the 25th day of January 1759. Here's to auld lang syne, dear Robbie!

reverentially remove cap
pour the spirit into the clean glass
consume the firewater

  1. Love this very appropriate haiky! Happy Burns Night.

  2. Sorry - can't even spell haiku today (there is a haiku in there somewhere)
    My brain is asleep,
As my fingers rest on the keys
    My mind goes astray.

  3. Bombay is Mumbai,
    Peking is Bejing,
so your haiku is a haiky!

Re your sleepy brain I suspect it's a mild case of fug*, it will soon pass.

*if there's no such medical word there should be.
