Call for Fukushima City to be evacuated

At last someone in Japan speaks up!

Professor Tomoya Yamauchi of Kobe University who conducted a radiation monitoring survey of Fukushima City (pop. 290,00) on the 26th June at the request of residents has now called for the city, situated 40 miles from the Fukushima nuclear plant, to be evacuated as soon as possible.

Radiation levels in the city are many times higher than those in areas which were evacuated near Chernobyl.

There is a high risk of thyroid cancers developing in children. That the children of Fukushima City have not already been evacuated is beyond the pale. Either the Japanese Diet is completely insane or the amount of nuclear money swilling about is simply too great for the average politician to resist.
