(Un)occupied

old patterns
in everyday objects
in occupied streets

encrypted
and cushioned
in concrete

when vulgarity beats
in the hearts
in their shirts

"look up
and taste
our rich air!

"but
don't
overstay

"the underpass
exit
is under your ass"

The Occupy Movement began on Wall Street when those who had lost their homes and their jobs, and those who had no prospects, found themselves (to put it in the terms of the photo-poem) unable to sit comfortably with the infamous banksters-bail-out. To add insult to injury some of the banksters appeared parading on a balcony armed with flutes of champagne. Several of the banksters proceeded to shower the protesters with abuse and insults. This is the theme of the poem.

  1. I have to sit and digest your poetry these days Gwil in order to make a real comment, so shall come back later when I have thought about it.

  2. I shall save you the trouble Pat. I've now appended a footnote. Maybe I should do this more often?

  3. That makes the poem much more understandable Gwil. It is quite sickening and a good poem to illustrate the event - so thank you for the enlightenment.
