Thanks Pat. If you care to look a couple of posts below on the post titled "What's the BeeG SECRET?" you'll now see an alarming statistics (which I've now added at the bottom of that post). Briefly: a 20% reduction in quantity of honey produced by Austrian honeybees during years 2005 to 2011.
Exactly. Here we have seen a 16% reduction in honey production over 6 years - the bees are working harder than ever to fill their hives and are not surviving the winter - some farmers have lost more than 50% of their bees over the recent winter. The bees simply disappeared leaving their full honeycombs. Navigation problems caused by chemicals, as opposed to radio masts and so on, seems to be the cause, because bees in cities have higher survival rates. But we cannot be complacent. We must think more carefully about the environment.
Clever - very clever. This needs to be up on a billboard somewhere - in fact everywhere.

ReplyDeleteSpot on. The bee situation is a worrying one. There is no room for complacency.
