"An idea no longer shrouded in mist, through wave or ether comes to me, like a star from high up in the skies, or a pearl from the bottom of the sea." - Victor Hugo (Les rayons et les ombres)
Abraham Lincoln was ahead of his time.
Internet? Abraham Lincoln? From the grave? Wherever he said it from he's dead right!
To combine both your thoughts, the man was ahead of his time and dead right.
My youngest daughter, after seeing a TV commercial that mocked th same sort of thing, turned to me and said, "The internet lies sometimes, doesn't it." I felt much better about her chances in life after that.
She'll be reading Gogol's Overcoat before you know where you are. May it go well for her.
The Abraham Lincoln who said that is probably my old Facebook friend who lives in Brookeville, OH - he gets mistaken for ancestor a lot - he actually annoys me a lot as he's deleted most of his blog archives and wants me to join LinkedIn which I refuse to get involved in.
Never heard of him. But he'll find it was easier to close the blog than to leave LinkedIn.
