    Elmer Gantry is the evangelist, baptist, methodist preacher in Sinclair Lewis's 1928 novel, still valid today. There was a film of the same name starring Burt Lancaster around 1960 but it covered only 100 pages of the 450 page novel said to be the best study of hypocrisy since Voltaire.

    I read Elmer Gantry (long ago - I love thick books), but did not see the movie. As your poem - and the novel - shows: God is in business.
